

The Tea Centre is 100% Australian owned and was first established in Paddington, Sydney in 1993 by Sharon Sansom & Joakim Torstensson who both have a long history in the hospitality industry from fine dining restaurants to 5 Star Hotel Food & Beverage management. In 2000 the team was completed with the addition of Kerry Torstensson.
Together they realised the need for a specialist retail Tea Shop dealing in high quality loose leaf teas and accessories. Australians, despite being very big tea drinkers, had forgotten what real tea was all about, they had been side tracked by the tea bag so now it was time to re-educate them.

The Tea Centre opened in Paddington, Sydney in 1993. By Sharon Sansom & Joakim Torstensson
We expanded into the CBD Pitt Street Mall in 1995 and a Cafe was added.
Paddington closed in 1996 as the shop was to small.
In 2000 we became the supplier to Qantas First Class.
In 2002 we moved north and opened in Brisbane (Brisbane Arcade).
In 2003 we moved to the capital and opend in The Canberra Centre
In 2004 Rhodes in Sydney's inner west is opened 2nd december
In 2006 Warringah Mall & Hornsby opend its doors
In 2007 we added Kotara (Newcastle) and Southport (Gold Coast)
The Tea Centre supplies tea to over 500 Cafes and Restaurants around Australia.
