Chinese Tea
It has always been difficult to learn all the details of Chinese tea production. The country is vast, the languages are diverse and the Chinese have traditionally guarded their secrets very closely. However, we do know that 18 provinces across the southern half of the country produce tea. Many smallholder farmers still grow and manufacture small amounts of tea for the locals, processing the leaves by hand. Larger plantations produce leaf that is manufactured in factories and sold through provincial corporations.
The Chinese themselves drink green tea, and all black teas are produced for export.
