Where to being with The Tea Centre’s extensive tea range

New to what the wonders of tea have to offer? Not completely sure of what flavours might suit your palate? No matter where you currently are on your tea journey, The Tea Centre is here to help! Our tea spectrum is incredibly wide and varied with plenty of options for a captivating cuppa.

How to navigate The Tea Centre’s 150+ range of teas

  • Choose a tea type
  • The Tea Centre has broken down our menu into four distinct sections: Classics (black tea, green tea, oolongs, white tea, and breakfast blends), Fusions (earl greys, jasmines, chai, and other black/green tea fusions), Wellbeing (herbals, rooibos, and fruit tisanes), and Premium (single estate, high-grade tea, or rare teas). Pick the one you think will best please your palate!

  • Select a tea and how its presented
  • While every tea in our range comes as a loose leaf, our most popular blends also come in pre-packaged loose leaf gift tins and as biodegradable tea bags. Pick the presentation that best suits your lifestyle!

  • Purchase your tea
  • Purchasing loose leaf tea? If it’s not packaged in a gift tin, you can choose how little or much tea you would like, starting at 50 grams! If this is your first time trying out a new tea, we suggest only purchasing 100 grams to ensure you love the blend before buying in bulk. Our loose leaf gifts tins hold roughly 120–160 grams of tea (depending on the density of individual leaves) and our teabags tins hold 25 pouches each.

    A guide on tea strengths

The term “strength” when it comes to tea is usually in relation to flavour, with each tea category boasting varying flavour strengths. If you’re looking for a tea based on the strength of its caffeine content, then black tea (especially our strong breakfast blends) is usually the way to go; however, matcha—a powdered Japanese green tea—has a higher caffeine content because the leaves are consumed in their entirety rather than as an infusion.

How does origin impact a tea’s flavour profile?

Just like wine, the taste of tea will differ depending on where and how it’s cultivated. For instance, Darjeeling is typically grown at a higher and cooler elevation and produces a light-tasting infusion when compared to the dark, malty infusion of an Assam, which is grown in low-lying, greenhouse-like terroir. Although they are both black teas from India, their characteristics are quite different. This will apply to all other varieties of tea depending on the countries they’re from and the way they’re produced. Each item’s tasting notes (provided in their product descriptions) will offer the best idea of what to expect.

What are the health benefits of drinking tea?

Drinking any kind of tea is beneficial and will offer a range of healthful properties regardless of what you choose. With this in mind, choose a tea you’re going to enjoy the taste of. That way, you will drink more of it, making for a pleasurable experience each time.

Not only is the ritual of tea an effective stress reliever, but it’s also a reliable source of antioxidants. Tea is further known to contain less caffeine than coffee, making it a healthy way to wash away the day. All of this makes starting a tea collection a worthwhile investment.

A particularly powerful antioxidant group known as ‘flavonoids’ are prevalent in all teas, with green and white teas containing the most. The consumption of flavonoids has a range of health benefits. The main one being that flavonoids have restorative skin and hydration properties.

Additionally, herbal teas are known to also have a variety of uses targeting specific ailments. At The Tea Centre, we understand the importance of your daily tea ritual and strive to provide you with the highest quality leaves possible. We do this to ensure that your tea drinking experience is a luxurious moment of calm amid the chaos of daily life. Find your perfect cup today and let the world wash away with tea.
