Neither a Black nor a Green Tea, Oolong Tea sits perfectly in the middle, offering the best of both worlds! Typically Grown in Asian countries such as Taiwan, Vietnam and China, Oolong Teas can vary from loose and large leaves, to finely rolled leaves, and be anywhere from dark to green in appearance. With a delicate flavour and light brew, our Oolong Tea is perfect on its own or with a dash of honey for sweetness.

Oolong tea has more savoury flavours that range from herbaceous to nutty to woody, placing this tea somewhere between a green tea and a black tea. The versatility of this tea makes it an excellent accompaniment to a wide variety of foods.

How to brew a cup of Oolong Tea

To brew a perfect cup of oolong tea you need to do the following.

  • One teaspoon or 2g of oolong tea per 200ml of water.
  • Use water at 90°C, or leave your kettle for 10 minutes after boiling.
  • Steep darker oolongs for 2-4 minutes, green rolled oolongs for 3-5 minutes.
  • Oolong leaves can be reused 2-3 times.
  • Oolong teas are semi-fermented and due to the different oxidation levels, each oolong produces a different flavour and aroma. The less oxidized oolongs are similar to a green tea but the more oxidization they receive the stronger the brew and the closer it is in flavour and appearance to a black tea and therefore stronger. Oolongs can be infused multiple times (2-3) and often present new flavours on each infusion.
