The Tea Centre’s range of breakfast teacups

There’s no better way to start the day than with one of our breakfast teacups in hand! Our breakfast teacups were designed in the English town of Stroke-on-Trent. Despite being a little town, this humble place is famous for its ceramics, with many of the local families known as ancestral “Potters”.

You can sense this history in these Heritage teacups! Their light and durable fine bone china material speak to nineteenth and early twentieth-century English craftsmanship. Each one boasts a 350ml capacity and come with a matching saucer. These teacups are as functional as they are stylish; both the cup and saucer are dishwasher and microwave safe.

The different teaware material types

In the same way that a carpenter is lost without his tool belt, a tea drinker can’t enjoy the full experience of tea without the proper teaware on hand! When it comes to choosing the perfect teacups to suit your lifestyle, it’s important to consider the following pros and cons of each type of teaware material.

  • Ceramic: traditional feel and retains heat well. However, this material is more prone to chipping than others
  • Glass: aesthetically pleasing to watch tea leaves unfurling during the infusion process. However, glass does not retain heat as well as other materials
  • Earthenware: traditionally, there’s no washing up required as earthenware is said to retain the memories of the tea and tea drinker
  • Porcelain: beautiful pure white colour and an convenient material for teaware. Used to be very delicate but is now much more durable
  • Bone china: Developed in England by combining porcelain and bone ash. Considered more durable than regular porcelain
