Masala Chai Tea
Ask The Tea Centre what our favourite tautology is and we will tell you “chai tea”. This is a funny phrase as chai means tea in Hindi (so “chai tea” means “tea tea”) and masala translates to ‘spice’. This refers to the delicious assortment of petals and spices that wallahs have used to make masala blends for the past 5000–9000 years. Like most chai, our Masala blend takes inspiration from Ayurveda teachings originating from the Indian subcontinent.
For this reason, our blend does not mess with tradition! Specifically, our chai features a balance of black tea, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and rose petals. Upon infusion, it tastes delicious with or without milk, especially when brewed in traditional stovetop chai fashion.
Given there is nothing better than cosying up with a warm mug of stovetop chai during the colder months, this chai is a bestseller in the wintertime. You can up the comfort factor of this spicy blend even more by adding a dash of honey into the mix!
This chai doubles as the perfect gift too. You can find our Masala Chai, as well as other delicious fusion teas in our beautiful range of Tea Gifts.
Can’t get enough of chai? We don’t blame you! Explore our full range of Chai Fusion Teas – we think you’ll love our sweet and creamy Vanilla Chai, and our perfectly balanced Mumbai Chai.
Want to Brew Chai at home?
Brewing your own chai at home in the traditional way – on a stovetop in a small pot – can be a relaxing part of your tea ritual. You can find out more about how to brew chai (and all your other favourite teas) using our Brewing Guide.
Chai is typically enjoyed with the addition of milk and a sweetener such as honey, but we think one of the best ways to enjoy chai is in the company of loved ones, so why not share a cup!
