Genmaicha tea is a rustic, simple tea that is very popular in Japan. It consists of Sencha, which is then flavoured and blended with roasted granules of rice(genmai). It is produced in most of the tea regions in Japan and has an unmistakable roasted flavour.
Genmaicha is well suited to strong, spicy dishes with it’s balance of savoury and nutty notes. Thanks to its low caffeine content, it is also popular for drinking in the evening, and in Japan, many believe that it is good for the digestion and is often served after a meal.
