GENMAICHA TEA
Take it back-to-basics when brewing up a pot of The Tea Centre’s irresistible genmaicha tea. Genmaicha is a rustic Japanese brew with earthy tasting notes that provides simple enjoyment while being complex in design. This traditional brew is an intricately blended tea created from combining tasty sencha leaves with roasted—otherwise known as “popped”—granules of brown rice (genmai). It is produced in most of Japan’s tea regions and has an unmistakable toasty flavour.
Interestingly, genmaicha pairs well with spicy dishes thanks to its intricate balance of savoury and nutty notes. Due to its low caffeine content, it is also a popular afternoon beverage. In fact, many Japanese prefer to sip genmaicha after meals to aid digestion. This powerhouse tea’s polyphenols, selenium, and EGCG are said to promote healthy liver function, regulate blood flow (lowering the risk of heart disease), and achieve weight loss.
Elaborate ingredients aside, this luxurious Japanese tea is easy to brew and can be made in a matter of minutes! Simply take one teaspoon of our loose leaf blend and steep it in your preferred teacup using an infuser for two minutes to make the perfect cuppa!
