KENYA MARINYN TEA — GFOP-1 BLACK LOOSE LEAF
The Tea Centre sources its Kenya Marinyn Tea from the world-famous Marynin Tea Garden; one of the most sizable and thriving plantations in Kenya. The fertile red volcanic soils and run-off from nearby Lake Viktoria produce a black tea that’s uniquely malty in aroma and bright in flavour. A dash of milk compliments this premium loose leaf’s well-rounded smooth finish. Boasting a medium strength and clean taste, this tea is the perfect morning sip.
Our Kenyan tea boasts a GFOP-1 (Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe – First Flush) tea grading. This denotes how the whole tea leaves boast a golden colour due to being during the highly-anticipated spring harvest. Moreover, our supplier creates this premium black tea using traditional techniques that, in turn, elevates the quality of the loose leaf. You can read more about the fascinating processes behind this tea here. While the tea leaves are whole, they are stouter than other OP-grade black teas, taking on a similar appearance to Assam teas. Conversely, this brew is slightly more earthy and soft on the palate due to a smattering of gold tips.
