Lemon Myrtle Organic
Our lemon myrtle organic is made from the good stuff—namely, the zesty and uniquely Australian lemon myrtle shrub native to Queensland and northern New South Wales. Titled ‘queen of the lemon herbs’ in culinary circles, this tasty tisane is the ideal sip for tea drinkers needing a herbal pick-me-up. Comparable to lemongrass in terms of tanginess, our lemon myrtle further vaunts hints of eucalyptus and zest with a pleasant camphor aftertaste. Such tasting notes make our lemon myrtle a particularly zingy morning brew. Our organic lemon myrtle tastes fantastic as an iced tea, especially in combination with Australian Alpine Sencha. Long before this fragrant botanical found its way into tasty desserts, Indigenous Australian would cultivate lemon myrtle for potential antimicrobial and antifungal purposes. Specifically, one 2021 peer-reviewed study found that lemon myrtle is a superior source of citral content. This is what gives the leaves their powerful lemony scent. Some even argue that lemon myrtle is more flavourful than lemon peel itself, particularly in regard to tea blends.
Aside from drinking lemon myrtle as a tea, why not get creative and add a unique citrusy kick to your recipes – it’s a fabulous addition to both sweet and savoury dishes, including sauces, marinades, and desserts!
The Tea Centre also retails this tisane in gift tins (loose leaf or tea bags) and cartons of 50 tea bags.
