PAI MU TAN TEA — TRADITIONAL CHINESE WHITE TEA
Plucked by hand from the very tip of the camellia Sinensis tea plant. Pai Mu Tan is a classic, traditional Chinese loose leaf with a proliferation of shoots and the two youngest leaves of the tea plant. This results in a tea with earthy flavour and smooth floral fragrance. You’ll also see Pai Mu Tan retailed as ‘Bai Mu Dan’ or ‘White Peony’. The latter name connotes Pai Mu Tan’s pale hue and silky taste. This tea is most enjoyable on its own at any time of day. It’s also a fantastic tea to brew up for special occasions.
Hailing from the mountains in the Fujian province of China, this white tea is akin to spring in a cup. It has an exquisite pale gold colour upon infusion and a bright peony aroma. As a white tea, this is one of our least processed loose leaf blends. As a result, it offers subtle, refreshing flavours. Health-wise, white tea has high antioxidant capacity and caffeine. In fact, given Pai Mu Tan is made from the youngest leaves on the tea plant, its caffeine content is similar to, if not greater than, some black and green teas.
