PU-ERH KING TEA
Talk about royal-tea. The Tea Centre’s pu-erh king tea is, as the name suggests, one of the finest teas of its kind. Like all pu-erh tea, this ripe ‘shou‘ loose leaf comes from the ancient Yunnan province and is steeped in tradition. Despite being one of the highest grade teas that we offer, this brew boasts a mellow and aromatically earthy flavour that makes it perfect for those just discovering the delights of pu-erh. You can drink this every day, particularly after meals as it makes for a wonderful digestion tea.
This king of Chinese black tea comprises of chestnut-coloured rolled leaves that brew up a delicious dark red colour. While this pu-erh is not compressed into the tea cakes you may be used to seeing, it packs in just as many health benefits! Pu-erh is thought to boost metabolism when paired with exercise and a good diet, assist circulation, blood pressure, and regulate cholesterol levels. Moreover, loose leaf pu-erh ferments quicker than tea cakes. This results in a delicious taste with no astringency that allows the high-grade leaves to speak for themselves.

Brewing Guide
Chinese method:
- Bring water to a boil. Place 1 teaspoon (3 grams) of loose leaf into a small teapot or gaiwan.
- Fill your pot or gaiwan with boiling water and let it steep for only 5-15 seconds before discarding the water.
- Fill your pot or gawan again with boiling and let it steep for 10-20 seconds before pouring the infusion into a teacup to enjoy.
- Continue steeping the leaves as many times as you like, tacking on an extra minute to each infusion process. This results in a deliciously different flavour each time.
Western method:
- Bring water to a boil. Preheat your cup with boiling water, then discard the water.
- Measure your tea leaves. We recommend using about 1 teaspoon (3 grams) of loose leaf tea for every 200ml of water.
- Place your leaves in the teapot and pour your boiling water directly over the leaves.
- Allow the leaves to steep for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, place a basket strainer over your cup and pour the tea so that any leaves will be caught by the strainer.
- Serve the contents of the teapot and enjoy.
