FIRST FLUSH DARJEELING LOOSE LEAF TEA
The Tea Centre’s First Flush Darjeeling (FTGFOP1) is the Darjeeling connoisseur’s favourite flush. This harmonic blend from different gardens in India’s Darjeeling district is arguably one of the world’s freshest tea. Spring rains give this first flush loose leaf sparkling notes of black tea flavour plus a light amber appearance and aroma. Ideal on its own at any time of day.
What makes first flush tea so good? Unlike our Second Flush Darjeeling, this loose leaf comes from the first spring harvest of crops (from March to May). Our Darjeeling’s FTGFOP1 tea grading denotes how only the youngest tender buds of the tea plant make up this tea. If you want to more about tea grading, check out our blog on the topic here. Moreover, our suppliers in Darjeeling, India harvest these buds using the orthodox method—all finely plucked by hand! The purest of teas, spring loose leaf harvests are also thought to boast more nutrients and antioxidants as they are allowed more time to grow in comparison to second flush tea leaves.
The Tea Centre supplies many different varieties of Darjeeling, which you can explore here. Alternatively, are you after loose leaf from another one of India’s tea-growing regions? Be sure to check out our collection of Assams too!
