MINI TUO CHA GREEN PU-ERH TEA — RIPE PU-ERH TEA CAKE
It’s the question on everyone’s lips—what is tuo cha pu-erh tea? In the most simple terms, tuo cha is a traditional type of shou (ripe) pu-erh (fermented compressed tea cake) from China that farmers shape into a dome and preserve for at least three years. Specifically, our mini tuo cha green pu-erh is aged for five years and is one of The Tea Centre’s most traditional shou pu-erh varieties. The perfect size for a small teapot, this pu-erh is ideal on its own. That way, the infusion can exhibit its true Yunnan qualities.
Ripe pu-erh is famous for its unique production method, which sees loose leaves undergo ‘wet piling’ for sixty to seventy days before the tea’s compression stage. Like all pu-erh, our mini varieties come from the Yunnan province in China. Find out more here. Specifically, our green pu-erh has earthy base notes, a strong vegetal character akin to Lung Ching, and chestnut top notes. In addition, a floral fragrance contributes to the tea’s overall complex flavour profile. This is a brew that’s great for digestive support and lowering cholesterol.
