Jasmine Monkey King’s popularity stems from the perfectly balanced flavours of fresh jasmine blossoms and the beautiful quality of fine Chinese green tea leaves that compose this blend.
After nearly half a year of waiting, we’re pleased to announce that our ever popular Jasmine Monkey King is finally coming back in stock, just in time for Chinese New Year and, fittingly, The Year of the Monkey. The sparkling floral notes of jasmine tea are a refreshing way to cleanse the palate as sumptuous banquets of fish, dumplings, and noodles are luxuriated in during the lunar festivities.
Jasmine Monkey King’s popularity stems from the perfectly balanced flavours of fresh jasmine blossoms and the beautiful quality of fine Chinese green tea leaves that compose this blend. The lengthy absence of this beloved jasmine tea has been the result of less than desirable growing conditions of both the tea and the jasmine flowers used to impregnate the natural flavours. These flowers are an integral part of the process as they are the only element used in giving jasmine tea its scent. This is the traditional and more accepted way of producing jasmine tea. Some jasmine teas are made using artificial flavours or oils. While jasmine oil is a very expensive commodity, this practice is considered to create an inferior product.
The health benefits of drinking jasmine teas are mainly attributed to the tea base itself, which are predominantly green teas; though black, white, and oolong teas can also be jasmine infused. However, researchers have found the scent of jasmine to be akin to the scent of lavender, which relaxes and lowers heart rate. The addition of jasmine is also a great way to encourage those who may not be huge fans of the taste of green tea, but would like to drink more of it. The delicate perfume of jasmine creates a pleasant and aromatic sip, making drinking green tea more enjoyable.
So if you’re after a more aromatic green tea, or looking for something to complete your Lunar New Year feasts, or have simply been awaiting the return of this favourite tea, then the wait is over...
