This year, we were thrilled to announce our first ever advent calendar, The Apothecary Tea Cabinet.

When we set out to create this advent calendar, we wanted to bring the magic of ancient tea blending into the holiday season. Inspired by the art of the apothecary, which we’ve celebrated in our stores with our signature tea wall, this calendar is a homage to the timeless tradition of blending herbs, spices, and leaves.

A nod to the apothecary tradition

If you’ve ever visited one of our stores, you’ve likely seen our tea wall—a golden display of over 130 unique teas from across the globe. This is much like a traditional apothecary, where shelves would be stocked with jars of herbs, flowers, and other ingredients, and stored alongside tightly-guarded recipes, ready to be blended into tonics, medicines, and more.

Drawing inspiration from this, we’ve curated our collection of twelve special teas and tea tools to evoke the same sense of wonder and mystery behind each drawer.

Bringing the magic of a bygone era into the modern age

We didn’t want this calendar to be just another countdown to the holidays – we wanted it to be an experience that evokes the whimsical charm of an old-world apothecary.

Think of it as a window into the past, where the busy days leading up to Christmas can be filled with moments to stop and enjoy a moment of calm over tea, whilst exploring new flavours.

Why We Chose 12 Days Instead of 24

You might be curious why our Advent Calendar features 12 days rather than the typical 24. The answer is that we wanted to play on the concept of the “12 Days of Christmas.”

Instead of rushing through an entire month of countdowns, we’ve chosen to slow down the holiday hustle and focus on quality, not quantity.
