The Chai Collection

Who said winter was a time of hibernation? At The Tea Centre, we think this is the perfect moment to start exploring the seven wonders of the chai world! The best bit? You can do it all from the comfort of your couch…

While Masala and Mumbai are our most popular blends, The Tea Centre boasts other chai that are as Ayurvedic as they are tasty. Specifically, did you know that the common ingredients you find in most chai—cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, fennel, peppercorns, and star anise—all stem from the traditional teachings of Ayurveda? Practitioners in this alternative school of medicine believe that such ingredients can enhance digestion and metabolism, which keeps the drinker feeling warmer for longer!

Our caffeine-free rooibos chai, dandelion chai, and green chai are also great choices for sippers who crave spices and milk, sans the black tea. Want to try them all at once? The chai chest collates all of these wonderful blends in one sampler wooden tea box.

One such tea is Glögg—The Tea Centre’s rendition of a Scandinavian mulled wine libation commonly enjoyed during Christmastime. This steamy brew incorporates robust mulled wine ingredients like almonds, cinnamon, and orange peel. All of which will have you glowing from the inside out this winter.

Another fiery blend of the black tea variety is our gorgeous Gingerbread tea. No tea experience is complete without a biscuit, and this powerful black tea blend combines the two ideas in one! A delicious blend of ginger, almond, and caramel, this tea has a startling likeness to gingerbread cookies fresh out of the oven.

All about Ayurveda

Spice fiends, this one’s for you. No matter your temperament (or the temperature outside), a tasty Ayurveda blend is just what the dosha ordered!

For those unfamiliar with the teachings of Ayurveda (you can read more about it here), Ayurvedic beverages aim to support your overall wellbeing by rebalancing the energies—also known as doshas—in your body: vata, kapha, and pitta.

While every person is thought to have a unique configurement of dosha in their body (with one dosha championing over the rest), we think everyone could benefit from a little more pitta in their system. This is the energy associated with fire, and who doesn’t need warming up in the colder months?

From our Ayurveda range of tisanes, our fiery Power Mix packs a lot of pitta energy thanks to its wonderful infusion of cardamom, cinnamon, liquorice, and juniper berries. It’s particularly good at regulating ailments associated with Kapha (water and earth).

In saying that, however, all our Ayurveda blends are worth sipping on while you hibernate! For example, we adore the sharp aroma of freshly-brewed Breathe Easy (your sinuses will thank you) while Anti-Stress is a great sip to come home to after a long day of work.

Outstanding Oolongs

It’s not a tea type that’s often lauded during the colder months, and our tea-loving tea-m think it’s time to give oolongs the spotlight they deserve! Whereas Ayurveda teas contains spices, oolong boast variety, which spices up your life (and taste buds) during an otherwise slow-going time of year. You’ll never tire of this tea family, where every oolong sports unique characteristics that change with each infusion.

Moreover, while all oolongs sport different oxidation levels, one similarity is that the leave are left to dry in the sun for a spell, soaking up the rays. Therefore, we reckon that some oolongs—particularly Mellow Cream Oolong—taste akin how sunshine feels! Warm and bright.

We also want to give special praise to spring harvest oolongs like Dung Ti. It’s superbly floral aroma reminds one that springtime is just around the corner, keeping the seasonal blues at bay.

The Earl Greys

Did you know that The Tea Centre supplies not one, not two, but seven different Earl Grey blends? Furthermore, four of these seven teas are signature to our brand!

For those yearning to be thawed out this winter, our East India Earl Grey will do just the trick. In marrying traditional Indian spices with the classic black tea and bergamot blend, this tea was made to keep you cosy and caffeinated on even the frostiest of evenings.

Alternatively, reintroduce a touch of summer into your life this winter with our sultry French Earl Grey. Its bright additions of rose petal and cornflower are a colourful reminder during those early winter mornings. Moreover, you can’t get more summery than this tea’s tasty infusion of lush apricot and mango flavour.
